This Scholarship was established by MAREP to promote and support the training
of current or future Environmental Professionals in Maryland, the District of
Columbia, and Virginia. MAREP was established in 2009 by a group of
Environmental Professionals who sought to provide opportunities for professional
development and awareness.
The MAREP scholarship is to support a student who is pursuing a degree within an
environmental field and who has demonstrated a commitment to a career related
to the environment. MAREP advocates the pursuit of knowledge in an everexpanding
field and wishes to assist students who are pursuing/advancing a career as an Environmental Professional.
- The recipient will be an undergraduate or graduate student interested in a career within an environmental field. Eligible students shall submit an application, which includes an essay, transcript and two letters of recommendation. Through the application process, students should provide evidence of sincere interest in attaining/advancing a career within the environmental field.
- Undergraduate recipients must be at least a second year student as defined by their respective institute of higher learning. Students must attend schools and/or be residents of Maryland, the District of Columbia, or Virginia.
- The recipient must attend one MAREP general meeting or annual conference where they will be formally recognized for their accomplishments. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of most months in Columbia, Maryland. A free meeting ticket, which includes a meal, will be provided to the scholarship recipient.
