Free Networking Event for Environmental Professionals

Characterization and Remediation of Perfluorinated Compounds
In an ever-changing world of regulations and emerging contaminant issues, it’s critical for environmental professionals to remain aware of these contaminants, their impact on human health, and best practices for addressing them.  Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), also known as perfluorochemicals (PFCs) are among the most widespread and persistent manmade chemicals in our environment and have become an emerging concern.
Join MAREP for a discussion on these emerging contaminants, led by Ravi Damera, P.E., BCEE.  Mr. Damera will address the regulatory process for these compounds of concern  The discussion will focus on the regulations that govern Poly- and Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) andchallenges  environmental professionals face in the characterization and remediation of perfluorinated compounds.
Ravi Damera is a senior program manager with AECOM.  He has over 25 years of experience in multiple environmental practice areas, with a focus on remediation.  Mr. Damera has several publications to his credit and served on American Society of Civil Engineers HTRW technical committees and as a peer a reviewer for technical journals.  He also served as Adjunct Faculty in the Environmental Management program at the University of MarylandUniversity College for 10 years.   Mr. Damera holds a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering Technology/Environmental Technology from University of Maryland College Park, and a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering.
THIS EVENT IS FREE, and appetizers will be provided by MAREP.  Cash bar and the ability to order entres will be available at your expense.

We are well on our way to establishing a recognized presence among a growing network of environmental professionals in consulting, government, industry, and higher education.  The mission of the Mid-Atlantic Region of Environmental Professionals (MAREP) is to provide opportunity for professional development and environmental awareness for environmental professionals, organizations and the communities of Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Northern Virginia.
